CASA DE ORO FOODS, LLC

SPI Foods, Inc.The assets of Casa de Oro were acquired by Fund II and other co-investors in January 2004 from ConAgra Foods. Casa de Oro manufactures flour and corn tortillas, tortilla chips and taco shells. The majority of sales are to food service customers in the rapidly growing Mexican food segment. The company also co-packs Mexican food products for other food-manufacturing customers. Casa de Oro has two plants – Omaha, Nebraska and Louisville, Kentucky.

A portion of the company’s volume had historically come from retail sales of Chi-Chi’s flour tortillas and tortilla chips. The Chi-Chi’s brands were sold to Hormel Foods in October 2005.

 


PACKAGING PRODUCTS CORPORATION, INC.

Packaging Products Corporation, Inc.In August 2006, Plaza Belmont Fund II made a minority investment in a management buyout transaction of Packaging Products Corporation. Packaging Products Corporation is a flexible packaging converter for food industry customers. PPC provides surface printed materials, adhesive laminations, and extrusion laminations printed up to 8 colors. It also has patented proprietary technology to provide packaging with controlled respiration for the meat and produce industries. Corporate offices and one production plant are located in Mission, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. A second, larger facility is located in Rome, Georgia.

 


MAMA ROSA'S PIZZA, LLC

Hilton house Foods, Inc.An investment group led by Plaza Belmont Fund II acquired the assets of MaMa Rosa’s Pizza on October 1, 2006 from ConAgra Foods, Inc. MaMa Rosa’s is the number one brand of refrigerated pizza sold in grocery stores in the U. S. The company manufactures refrigerated pizzas under the MaMa Rosa’s, Mama Angelina’s and Our Old Italian brand names. Established in Sidney, Ohio in 1979 as Gilardi Pizza, the company was acquired by ConAgra in 1998. The plant was expanded by ConAgra in 1999 and today encompasses 158,000 square feet with three bakery and finished product lines operated by approximately 250 employees.
